HC Deb 23 July 1974 vol 877 cc442-3W
Mr. Crawshaw

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will consider giving financial assistance toward the cost of removing the tenement block of flats at Brunswick Gardens, Liverpool.

Mr. Freeson

In the light of the known housing shortages in Liverpool the Secretary of State considers that financial support should not be given to the demolition of these flats until full consideration has been given to the possibility of their rehabilitation. The council has discretion to rehouse the families at present in occupation pending consideration as to whether it is appropriate to improve the existing structures or to demolish them.
