HC Deb 23 July 1974 vol 877 c411W
Mr. Whitehead

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if elected governors of the British Film Institute will henceforth hold office for a biennial period.

Mr. Hugh Jenkins

The Governors of the British Film Institute are appointed by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State. Elections by the members are held in order to nominate two persons for consideration by the Secretary of State for appointment. What should be the normal term of such governors is one of a number of matters which I am discussing with the chairman of the institute.
