HC Deb 23 July 1974 vol 877 cc432-3W
Mr. MacCormack

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he intends to adopt the recommendations of the commission on safety of medicines regarding the general sales list of animal medicines.

Mr. Bishop

The Medicines Commission is currently reconsidering in the light of comments by interested organisations and firms, the proposals they circulated last year on the retail sale of animal medicines. When the commission's revised proposals have been submitted to the Ministers responsible for health and agriculture in the United Kingdom, there will be further consultations with interested organisations, as required by Section 129(6) of the Medicines Act, before orders and regulations to give effect to Ministers' intentions are made.
