HC Deb 22 July 1974 vol 877 c359W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he is now in a position to announce approval to the enrolment of children who have not yet reached the age of 4 years to primary schools and in particular to Tower View Primary School, Bangor, where there is a great need for the establishment of a reception class for such children.

Mr. Orme

Area boards have been invited to prepare plans for the extension of nursery education provision on a long-term basis, but it is not proposed at present to change the regulation whereby a child below the age of four may be enrolled only in a nursery class or an approved unit for handicapped children.

The establishment of a reception class for children aged four and over at Tower View Primary School, Bangor has recently been approved.
