Mr. Jopling

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what long-term plans he is laying before the EEC Council of Ministers for beef, and when he expects these to come into operation.

As my right hon. Friend announced to the House on 19th June, we have made a full statement to the EEC Council of Ministers of our proposals for a reform of the common agricultural policy in relation to beef in the longer term. The Council will return to discussion of these proposals later in the year and I have nothing to add at this stage.
