§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how much is to be paid to Mr. Michael Cudlipp, his newly appointed public relations consultant; and what is the maximum for expenses he will be allowed per annum.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesHis salary is at a flat rate of £9,750 per annum. He will also be entitled to claim reimbursement of expenses necessarily incurred in the performance of his duties in accordance with the normal procedures.
§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what duties Mr. Michael Cudlipp, his public relations consultant, will undertake which are not being carried out at the present time by other members of his staff.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe duties of the Northern Ireland Office Information Services staff, in London and in Belfast, are to advise on and be responsible for the execution of all public presentational aspects of the Department's work. Mr. Cudlipp's responsibilities as a consultant will be different. He will have no responsibility for the management or administration of the NIO Information Services. Mr. Cudlipp will advise on the Department's public relations with particular reference to the developments for the future of Northern Ireland arising from the Northern Ireland Act and the Convention to be established under it.
