Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table showing the number of private pay beds, per 1,000 of population, in NHS hospitals in each region of Scotland.

Nine of the 15 health boards in Scotland may provide facilities for private in-patients. The maximum number of private patients in NHS hospitals per 1,000 of population, by health board areas, is as follows:
