§ Mr. Craigenasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many persons under the age of 21 years are presently committed to Barlinnie Prison to await trial on a charge of murder; and if he is now in a position to reassess the suitability of Longriggend Remand Institution as a more appropriate place of detention for untried prisoners who are under the age of 21 years held on murder charges.
§ Mr. William RossThree persons under the age of 21 are currently in Barlinnie Prison awaiting trial for murder. My inquiries into the suitability of Longriggend Remand Institution as a more appropriate place of detention for such prisoners are not yet complete but I shall write to my hon. Friend as soon as possible.
