Mr. John Evans

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what is the longest period of time that a National Health Service patient has had to wait without yet gaining admission to hospital, for orthopaedic treatment at Hope Hospital, Salford;

(2) what is the average length of waiting time for National Health Service patients requiring orthopaedic treatment at Hope Hospital, Salford;

(3) what is the waiting list of National Health Service patients requiring orthopaedic treatment at the Hope Hospital, Salford.

Dr. Owen

The longest waiting time is three years. The waiting times for admission ranges from immediate admission in cases of emergency to up to three years depending on the urgency of the case. The average waiting time is not readily available and would not be meaningful.

There are at present 604 patients awaiting admission.
