HC Deb 15 July 1974 vol 877 c14W
Mr. Milne

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will examine ways and means of improving working conditions and safety legislation for men employed on North Sea oil rigs and consult his counterparts in other Governments, such as that of Norway, on methods of doing this.

Mr. Strang

The code of regulations being made under the Mineral Workings (Offshore Installations) Act 1971 will provide for the safety, health and welfare of persons on offshore oil and gas installations on the United Kingdom sector of the Continental Shelf. The regulations are being prepared in consultation with other North Sea Governments.
