Mr. John Evans

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give details of the number of former employees of Irlam steelworks who are signing the unemployed register at Irlam and Stretford.

At Irlam there are 820 former employees of BSC Ltd. Irlam Steelworks claiming unemployment benefit and 117 non-claimants registered for work.

At Stretford the figures are 151 claimants and 56 non-claimants.
