asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will cancel the visit of a British missile-carrying destroyer to Indonesia, in view of the fact that political prisoners have been in captivity there for nine years.

Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will postpone the visit of HMS "Fife" to Djakarta as an indication of the concern which is felt about the conditions under which political prisoners are detained in Indonesia.

Mr. Judd

No; the purpose of the visit by HMS "Fife" is to meet the operational requirements of the Royal Navy.
