HC Deb 10 July 1974 vol 876 cc504-5W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the shortfall of teachers in the Essex County Council area; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Armstrong

I understand that the authority at present has few vacancies for teachers in maintained primary schools but about 150 in maintained secondary schools. Recruitment for the coming school year is proceeding and it is not yet possible to say what, if any, shortfall there will be in September.
