HC Deb 10 July 1974 vol 876 cc509-10W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the average gap of earnings per head between Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom for each year between 1967 and 1973, inclusive.

Mr. Booth

The following estimates of average weekly earnings relate to full-time men manual workers, aged 21 years and over, in all industries and services covered* by the Department's regular October inquiry into the earnings and hours of manual workers. The figures are affected by influences such as differences in the pattern of industry and may not therefore give a precise indication of differences in earnings for comparable work.

ting to £907,378, the average payment being £286.
