18. Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is now able to make a statement on his detailed plans to take into public ownership Scottish land required for development.

Mr. Millan

The Government will announce their proposals as soon as possible.

Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, in view of current land speculation in Scotland, particularly in areas likely to be associated with oil developments, if he will now seek powers to enable the Highlands and Islands Development Board to take development land into public ownership.

Mr. William Ross

The Government will announce as soon as possible their proposals for taking land required for development into public ownership.
