HC Deb 08 July 1974 vol 876 c376W
Mr. Crowder

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many letters he has had requesting that planning proposals concerning the development of The Cowfield, St. Catherine's Farm and any other similar proposals concerning sites in the Ruislip area should be included in the public inquiry which is to be held on 20th August in respect of the proposals concerning the Glacier Metal Company's sports ground; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Oakes

We have received about 250 letters and a petition objecting to proposals by the Hillingdon Council to develop green belt land in north Ruislip.

My right hon. Friend has called in for his decision an application by the council and the Glacier Metal Company for municipal housing on the sports ground in Ladygate Lane. The inquiry on 20th August will now cover this matter and also a compulsory purchase order for the sports ground and an appeal regarding a replacement sports centre at Fine Bush Lane.

We have told the council that we will not intervene in the proposed development at St. Catherine's Farm and the Model Pig Farm. No proposal to develop The Cowfield has yet been referred to us.
