§ Mr. William RossLime subsidy has been paid since 1937; its value in the last four calendar years has been £1.3 million, £1.5 million, £1.3 million and £1.4 million, respectively. Information extracted from the subsidy claim forms shows an average rate of application of about two tons per acre in Scotland, which is similar to Wales but lower than in England and Northern Ireland where the average is about two and a half tons per acre.
