HC Deb 08 July 1974 vol 876 c367W
Mr. Knox

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the amount of duty collected by the Estate Duty Office during the years 1970, 1971 and 1972 and to the latest date for which figures are available on which the rebate of duty on agricultural land was claimed.

Dr. Gilbert

I regret that reliable estimates are not available on a calendar year basis. For the three years 1970–71, 1971–72 and 1972–73 the estate duty paid in Great Britain which was the subject of agricultural relief was £13 million, £14 million and £22 million, respectively.
