Miss Fookes

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will institute an inquiry into the delays experienced by competitors in the Tour de France cycle race in being cleared by Customs at Exeter airport following the Plymouth stage of the race on 29th June 1974.

Mr. Hannam

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will investigate the two-hour delay at Exeter airport Customs of 200 riders and officials taking part in the first stage of the Tour de France cycle race on Saturday 29th June; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Gilbert

I have made inquiries and find that there was no delay by Customs to the departing Tour de France riders and officials at Exeter airport.
