Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to be able to announce his decision on the dispute about the adoption of roads and drains by the local authority at the Castle Estate, Sawbridgeworth, in the parish of Sheering in the Harlow constituency.

We are still awaiting further information from the parties to the dispute about the matters to be covered at an inquiry into the adoption of the sewers. When we have received this we hope to arrange a public local inquiry and we shall issue our decision as soon as possible thereafter. The question of the adoption of the roads is for local determination by the Essex County Council.
