Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many persons with diplomatic immunity were attached to the embassies of the USSR, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Romania and Bulgaria in the United Kingdom in 1950, 1960, and 1973, respectively.

The attached table shows in Columns A the numbers of personnel of the embassies of the USSR, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Romania and Bulgaria in the United Kingdom who were entitled to full diplomatic immunity in the years 1950, 1960 and 1973 respectively. Column B shows the numbers of persons employed at diplomatic missions in an administrative or technical capacity in 1973, whose names appear on records held by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as being entitled to a more restricted immunity, following the Diplomatic Privileges Act 1964:
