§ Mr. James Lamondasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will consider a postponement of the date on which the Textile Products (Indications of Fibre Content) Regulations 1973 become enforceable.
§ Mr. MeacherThe Textile Products (Indications of Fibre Content) Regulations—Statutory Instrument No. 2124 of 1973—which came into operation on 12th January 1974 are due to become enforceable on 1st July 1975. I have received representations from members of the textile and clothing manufacturing and distributive trades about the difficulty of adapting to the requirements of the regulations by that time. In the light of these I have come to the conclusion that a post-200W ponement of the date on which the regulations become enforceable by six months will be required. I propose therefore to put in hand the necessary amendment to the statutory instrument.
