Mr. Woodall

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when the restrictions on staff recruitment by the new local authorities will be lifted.

Mr. Crosland

The Local Government Staff Commission for England is satisfied that it is no longer necessary to retain these restrictions for the protection of staff affected by reorganisation. The commission therefore announced on Monday that the restrictions have been cancelled.
