HC Deb 03 July 1974 vol 876 c213W
Mr. Tierney

asked the Secretary of State for Trade (1) if he accepts the conclusions of the recently published report from the Civil Aviation Authority that the best airports systems for central England are those in which development is concentrated at two airports;

(2) if he accepts the conclusions of the recently published report from the Civil Aviation Authority that the best airports system for central England would be based on two airports and that one of these airports should be a new low-noise airport near the West Midland conurbation;

(3) if, having now received the central England airport study from the Civil Aviation Authority, he will make a statement on its findings.

Mr. Bates

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether, in view of the Civil Aviation Authority's report on airports in central England, he will now make a statement on the Government's airports policy.

Mr. Clinton Davis

We have received from the Civil Aviation Authority the summary of its consultant's study of the central England airports. We expect to receive the authority's recommendations on this study later in the year, following which my right hon. Friend will make a statement.
