HC Deb 02 July 1974 vol 876 cc152-3W
Mrs. Winifred Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will undertake a review of the police pay structure.

Mr. William Ross

Police pay is a matter in the first instance for the Police Council for the United Kingdom. I understand that the council has in hand the necessary consideration of the settlement which is due at 1st September.

Mrs. Winifred Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the up-to-date figure of the shortfall in the Scottish police force and if he will break this down into the appropriate Scottish forces.

Mr. William Ross

I have nothing to add to the answer given on 25th June to the hon. Member for Edinburgh, South (Mr. Hutchison).
