HC Deb 02 July 1974 vol 876 cc128-9W
Mr. Ovenden

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much of the £80 million special loan allocation announced on 27th April 1972 for local authority purchase of land has now been taken up; how many acres were purchased; how many of these acres have now been sold; what were the relevant sale proceeds; and what was the approximate typical length of time between date of purchase and date of sale by the local authorities.

Mr. Oakes

To date some £60 million of the £80 million has been provisionally allocated to 23 schemes totalling just over 3,000 acres. Loan sanctions of £33 million have been issued in respect of 12 schemes totalling approximately 1,100 acres. It is not yet possible to say how many acres have been sold on or at what price or to give details of the time lag between purchase and sale by local authorities.
