HC Deb 01 July 1974 vol 876 cc22-3W
Mr. Taverne

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people in the Lincoln area were, on the last occasion for which statistics are available, in receipt of (a) supplementary benefit, (b) supplementary pension, and (c) family income supplement respectively.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

On 23rd April 1974 a total of 8,932 people were receiving regular weekly payments of supplementary benefit from the Lincoln local social security office. Of these payments, 2,974 were supplementary allowances and 5,958 were supplementary pensions. I regret that information about family income supplement is not available for areas smaller than departmental regions; it is estimated, however, that at the end of April about 8,000 families were receiving the supplement in the East Midlands and East Anglia Region in which Lincoln is situated.
