HC Deb 01 July 1974 vol 876 c9W
Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many small firms information centres he intends to establish in West Yorkshire; where they will be located; and when they will be opened.

Mr. Heffer

A Small Firms Information Centre has been opened in Leeds to serve the needs of small businesses in the East and West Ridings of Yorkshire, the City of York and parts of Lincolnshire. It is housed in temporary accommodation at City House, New Station Street, until work on a purpose designed unit at 5 Royal Exchange House, City Square, has been completed. It is expected that staff will move into the new accommodation in early August. Firms throughout the area covered by the centre can make contact without charge by using the telephone, freefone number 5361, and this will remain unchanged. Ten centres have been established throughout Great Britain and there are no plans for increasing this number at the present time.
