§ Mr. Fordasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will now, as a matter of urgency, announce his decision on the recommendation of the Select Committee on Science and Technology that he should give assistance to the linear electric motor project, in order to allow development to proceed at Earith in time for the World Conference on Linear Motors in London later this year.
§ Mr. MeacherThe Government expect to take a final decision on the tracked10W hovercraft project shortly, and hope to make a statement, in the form of a reply to the Report of the Select Committee on Science and Technology, during this Session. During the past year my Department has placed research and development contracts on linear electric motors with three British companies.
