HC Deb 01 July 1974 vol 876 c31W
Mr. Edge

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what statistics his Department collects on the state of health of regional economies within the United Kingdom;

(2) what statistics his Department collects on the direction, level and volume of inter-regional commodity flows.

Mr. Joel Barnett

Economic and social statistics on a regional basis are compiled by the Central Statistical Office in collaboration with Government Departments. Many of these are published in the annual Abstract of Regional Statistics. Statistics on inter-regional commodity flows are not available at present, though from time to time my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment makes broad estimates of inter-regional road freight movements.
