asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the weighted average of the percentage growth in gross domestic product in 1972 and 1973 of the nine countries which now make up the European Communities.

Using 1972 GDP weights, the weighted average percentage growth in the nine member countries of the EEC was 4 per cent. in 1972 and 5.6 per cent. in 1973.
