HC Deb 01 July 1974 vol 876 c36W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Minister for the Civil Service what steps are being taken to rationalise the Government's payments methods as recommended in "The Future of London as an International Financial Centre".

Mr. Robert Sheldon

As part of its ongoing responsibility for improving Government efficiency the Civil Service Department in consultation with Her Majesty's Treasury and other Departments continues to give active consideration to the whole question of the receipt and payment of money by Government. The Central Computer Agency is particularly concerned with the application of computer techniques in this field, and it is in close contact with the Inter-Bank Research Organisation in order to agree on areas potentially suitable for automation.
