HC Deb 01 July 1974 vol 876 cc57-8W
Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales when he intends to announce his final decision about the Freshwater East Corporation Development Area Plan.

Mr. John Morris

I shall approve the plan as modified as soon as certain necessary additional documents have been received from the Dyfed County Council.

Wales Great Britain Wales as percentage of Great Britain
Average household income £41.42 £42.98
Average number of persons per household 3.04 2.91
Average household income per person £13.63 £14.78 92

Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT details of the number of households in Wales whose household income is half or less than half the average income for householders in Great Britain; and if he will express that figure as a percentage of households in Wales and as a percentage relative to the average households through Great Britain whose income is at this level.

Mr. Booth

I have been asked to reply.

An estimate of numbers of households in Wales with the specfied range of income is not available. From the Family Expenditure Survey for 1972 it is estimated that 21 per cent. of households in Wales had a household income at or below half the average household income for Great Britain. This percentage is

as a percentage of the total number of persons economically active in Wales and whether he will express the figures for Wales as a percentage relative to the average for Great Britain.

Mr. Booth

I have been asked to reply.

The latest available information, from the Census of Population held in April 1966, is as follows:
