HC Deb 31 January 1974 vol 868 c153W
Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much rate support grant was received by Cardiganshire County Council, Carmarthenshire County Council and Pembrokeshire County Council in 1973–74; and what is the amount that will be received in 1974–75 under the terms of the White Paper on the rate support grant.

Mr. Graham Page

The total amounts of rate support grants for 1973–74 payable under the Rate Support Grant (Increase) (No. 2) Order are:

£million
County Council District Councils Total
£ £ £
Cardigan 6.8 0.6 7.4
Carmarthen 11.8 2.0 13.8
Pembroke 7.3 0.8 8.1
TOTAL 25.9 3.4 29.3

The figures for 1974–75 will depend on the distribution of the resources element, which depends on local authority rate calls, and on the domestic element, details of which have not yet been calculated, as well as on future increase orders; they will reflect the reduction in expenditure due to the transfer from local authorities of responsibility for school health and local health services and the payment of 90 per cent. specific grants for mandatory student awards.
