HC Deb 25 January 1974 vol 867 cc372-3W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the number of planning applications submitted to planning authorities in Bedfordshire for the past year for which figures are available, the number granted, the number refused and the percentage of those going to appeal which proved successful.

Mr. Eldon Griffiths

The total number of planning applications submitted to planning authorities in Bedfordshire, including Luton County Borough, during 1973 is not available ; 6,306 cases were decided, of which 4,924 were granted and 1,382 refused. Planning appeals for Bedfordshire submitted to the Department amounted to 292 during 1973. The percentage allowed is not readily available but the national average of appeals allowed is about 20 per cent., and I have no reason to think that the percentage in Bedfordshire is any different.
