HC Deb 25 January 1974 vol 867 c373W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will indicate the reserves of clay for Fletton bricks in Bedfordshire and the extent of total reserves already used ; and if he will also identify the occurrences of such clays in other parts of the country.

Mr. Graham Page

The information asked for in the first part of the Question is not available. The Oxford clay from which Fletton bricks are made outcrops in Dorset, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire. Its suitability for brick making varies in different parts of this belt.
