HC Deb 24 January 1974 vol 867 cc343-4W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will take steps to strengthen the section of his Department dealing with superannuation matters, so that proposals for pension schemes revision now before him, including the local government scheme and the Metropolitan Water Board scheme, can be dealt with before the reorganisation of local government and the water industry on 1st April, bearing in mind that these schemes are of importance to officers who will retire before that date.

Mr. Graham Page

I recognise the need to complete a large volume of work on superannuation by 1st April, but I do not consider that further strengthening of the staff would help. The Department will shortly be writing to the Metropolitan Water Board about its scheme.
