HC Deb 24 January 1974 vol 867 c332W
Mr. Terry Davis

asked the Minister for the Civil Service, in view of the economic situation, whether the Government will suspend proposals to move civil servants where these proposals are being made for administrative reasons rather than to increase employment opportunities in other regions.

Mr. Kenneth Baker

Civil servants move from one post to another to fill vacancies arising in the day-to-day running of a large organisation. They also move under dispersal projects which bring a variety of benefits including savings in public expenditure and improved recruitment as well as new employment oportunities. It is not proposed to suspend movements of either type.
