HC Deb 06 February 1974 vol 868 cc316-7W
30. Mr. Thomas Cox

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he can now give the number of houses built in the United Kingdom in 1973.

33. Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many homes were completed in the public and private sectors, respectively, in 1973.

47. Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he can now say what was the total number of new houses completed in 1973 in the public and private sectors, respectively.

Mr. Channon

I would refer the hon. Members to the house building figures for 1973 which were published on 31st January and are in the Library.

52. Mr. Wallace

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment to what extent he estimates house building in private and public sectors is being held back due to cuts in expenditure on schools, roads and sewers.

Mr. Channon

So far as I am aware, the completion and occupation of houses need not be held up by lack of these services. I am, of course, anxious that housing should be accorded high priority and if the hon. Member has a particular case in mind, perhaps he would let me have the details.
