HC Deb 05 February 1974 vol 868 c261W
Mr. Brocklebank-Fowler

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table comparing the average weekly earnings of underground workers in the coal mining industry with the average weekly earnings of agricultural workers on an annual basis from October 1964 to October 1973.

Mr. Scott

The following weekly averages relate to 12-month periods April to March. The coal mining figures are taken from National Coal Board annual reports; the earnings figures relate to underground workers but the values of benefits in kind relate to all wage earners including surface workers. The agricultural figures are derived from the regular earnings inquiries undertaken by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland; they include the value of benefits in kind and relate to full-time regular hired men aged 20 and over
