Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the total amount of money spent by Her Majesty's Government on providing new workshops for the blind since the first allocation to Remploy, and the total spent on capital equipment in workshops for the blind during this period; what is his estimate of the amount per blind worker employed this represents; and if he will make a statement.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the financial contribution made by his Department to Industrial Advisers to the Blind Ltd. in each year since 1964 to the present time.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what fees were paid to Industrial Advisers to the Blind Ltd. by the Workshops for the Blind during each of the years from 1964 until the present time.

Mr. Scott

Advisory services have been provided by Industrial Advisers to the Blind free of charge to Workshops for the Blind and local authorities, since its formation in 1964. Chargeable consultancy and executive services were made available by the company in 1970. Fees received in respect of these services were:

These figures include £126,431 paid by the Scottish Executive Development Council for Workshops, for the Blind in respect of marketing services provided by the company.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT all those Government Departments and public corporations which have placed contracts with the Workshops for the Blind; and what was the value of their contracts for each year since 1964 to the present time.
