§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will set up an inquiry into the accident rate of invalid tricycles, in view of the public concern at the rate of such accidents;
(2) if he will set up an inquiry into the mechanical acceptability of the invalid tricycle, in view of investigations by the Disabled Drivers Action Group entitled "Safety Last—the Facts".
§ Sir K. JosephI would refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Minister for Transport Industries to the hon. Member for Manchester, Wythenshawe (Mr. Alfred Morris) on 28th January.—[Vol. 868, c.33.] The design of the invalid tricycle is kept under continuous review and modifications are made where these are shown to be desirable. I do not think that any useful purpose would be served by an inquiry as suggested by the hon. Member.
