HC Deb 20 December 1974 vol 883 cc693-4W
Mr. Macfarlane

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if his Department has paid the special allowance to those Metropolitan Police officers who were on duty at the Winchester bomb trial in 1973.

Dr. Summerskill

There is no provision for payment of a special allowance. The officers have all been compensated for four hours' overtime for each of the days that they were on duty at Winchester. In October this year the Staff Side of the Police Council for the United Kingdom claimed that under Police Regulations the officers were entitled to further compensation. This claim is being examined by the Official Side.
