HC Deb 20 December 1974 vol 883 c653W
Mr. Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in view of the financial position of local government, he will recommend all local authorities to cease changing road traffic signs except where this is necessary on account of their condition.

Mr. Carmichael

My right hon. Friend informed the House on 12th December that he was impressing on local authorities the need to restrain their expenditure. I do not think advice is required about road signs specifically.
