§ Mr. Rostasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will make a statement on his latest meeting with the 643W Council of Ministers on the Commission's draft directives for a common EEC energy policy.
§ Mr. VarleyThe Council of Ministers on 17th December, which I attended, approved a resolution giving targets for Community energy consumption in 1985; these are subject to six-monthly review. A resolution was also approved on a Community action programme on the rational utilisation of energy. Other measures adopted include a directive limiting the use of natural gas in power stations and regulations providing for the notification to the Commission of information about hydrocarbon imports and exports.
The Council decided to meet again on 13th February 1975.
