asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many residential establishments there are in Wales for children, excluding approved schools and remand homes, in each local authority area; and if he will list them.

There are 160 residential establishments for children in Wales. As the complete list is lengthy I will send it to the hon. Member.

2,390 places are available in residential homes for children in Wales. The breakdown by local authorities showing the rate per 1,000 population aged 17 and under is as follows:
