HC Deb 19 December 1974 vol 883 c554W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the percentage of shortfall of staff in all types of old people's homes.

Mr. Alec Jones

Local authorities fix their own staff establishments for their old people's homes in the light of local needs, and a disproportionate effort would be necessary to obtain this information in order to compute the percentage of shortfall, if any. The numbers of staff in absolute terms, and in proportion to the numers of residents, continues to improve, although there are still shortages locally.
