This recommendation was implemented with effect from the publication of the Criminal Statistics for 1973.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action has been taken on recommendations 1 to 3 (pp. 492–493) of the Finer Report.

The Government are still considering these and other recommendations in the report.
