asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make special arrangements for the grant aiding of the big four national companies in addition to the Arts Council in 1975–76.

No. It is for the Arts Council to decide how far it can support its various clients within the total grant given it by the Government. A separation in the way suggested by the hon. Member would even, if practicable, be undesirable and would deprive the council of flexibility in reaching its decisions.
