§ Mr. PrenticeI am now consulting the Advisory Committee on the Supply and Training of Teachers and the other parties concerned and hope to announce decisions in the early spring.
§ 39. Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if, in view of recent disagreements which have arisen between unions and local education authorities, he is satisfied that the interests of non-teaching staff are being adequately safeguarded in the course of the reorganisation of colleges of education and polytechnics.
§ Mr. PrenticeI believe that local education authorities and governing bodies will be concerned to ensure that any non-teaching staff affected by reorganisation receive fair treatment. A working party is being set up under the auspices of the Local Authorities Conditions of Service Advisory Board to advise on staffing problems arising from reorganisation, and this will cover both teaching and non-teaching staff. As I stated in reply to a Question to my hon. Friend on 12th November, provision is to be made in regulations under Section 24 of the Superannuation372W Act 1972 for payment of compensation to teaching and non-teaching staffs of colleges of education who suffer loss or diminution of emoluments as a result of the reorganisation of their colleges.
